Regional tournaments continued Friday with their semifinal rounds and will come to an end Saturday.
Cotter’s girls took part in the semifinals of the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Greenland and fell to Mansfield 55-24. The Lady Warriors will meet Lavaca in Saturday’s third place game at noon.
The semifinals of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament were held at West Side High School in Greers Ferry.
The Norfork girls advanced to the championship game. The Lady Panthers invoked the mercy rule as they routed Marked Tree 66-32.
Norfork’s opponent Saturday evening at 6 will be Concord. Mammoth Spring ended up getting upset by the Lady Pirates 50-45. The Lady Bears will face Marked Tree in the third place game at noon.
The Rural Special boys lost to Marked Tree 67-42. The Rebels take on West Side for third place Saturday at 1:30.
Two area girls’ teams were victorious in the semifinals of the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament at Manila. Salem beat the host Lady Lions 53-45, and Mountain View topped Rivercrest 55-49. The Lady Greyhounds play the Lady Yellowjackets for the title Saturday at 6.
Three area teams competed in the semifinals of the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament at Izard County High School in Brockwell.
The host Lady Cougars defeated Marshall 72-61. Quinn Johnson was Izard County’s top scorer with 25 points, Olivia Spray had 18, and Tinley Bailey and Makensie Yancey each added 10. The Lady Cougars improve to 23-10 on the year, and they’ll be paired with Mount Vernon-Enola for the championship Saturday evening at 6. The Lady Bobcats will face Quitman for third place at noon.
Marshall did not fare any better on the boys’ bracket as they fell to Cutter-Morning Star 69-64. The Bobcats will play Sloan-Hendrix in the third place game Saturday at 1:30.
Three area teams took prat in the semifinals of the Class 3A Region 1 Touranment at Booneville.
On the girls’ side, Bergman had an easy 59-33 win over Elkins, and Valley Springs squeaked by Lincoln 36-33. The Lady Panthers and Lady Tigers will square off for the title Saturday at 6.
Bergman’s boys also advanced to the championship game after they pounded Hackett 61-37. The Panthers will be matched up with Booneville Saturday at 7:30.
The semifinals of the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament were played at Huntsville.
The Omaha girls ended up losing to Jasper 65-50. The Lady Eagles face Alpena in the third place game Saturday at noon, and the Lady Pirates take on Kingston for the title at 6.
Jasper had a different result on the boys’ side as they fell to Ozark Catholic 62-50. The Pirates will play the New School in the third place game Saturday at 1:30.
In Missouri, the Class 2, District 10 Tournament is being held at Mansfield.
Bakersfield’s girls came up one win short of a state tournament bid as they lost the title game to Norwood 62-49. The Lady Lions’ season ends at 17-10.
Gainesville will be one of the teams competing in the boys’ championship game. The Bulldogs go up against Hartville at 5.
