LOFTIS: We’re live with Mountain Home City Police Chief Eddie Griffin. Eddie, you want to, you need to update the public about an incident that happened early this morning.

GRIFFIN: That’s correct. At about approximately 6 a. m. on 16th Street, the number’s 926 East 16th, which is WIndy Hills Mobile Home Park, there was a shooting that took place. The incident occurred when, it sounds as though two intruders went into a house to rob an individual and shot the homeowner, but the homeowner returned fire also, hitting one of the intruders. The intruders then left the scene and ultimately was transported by personally owned vehicle to the hospita,l and an ambulance came and transported the homeowner to the hospital.

LOFTIS: And you do not believe this was a random act? This was maybe a targeted act?

GRIFFIN: I believe that’s correct. I believe they were there specifically to steal from the homeowner for what they at least believe he had, and I definitely do not believe it was random acts of violence. You know, the investigation is ongoing with Mountain Home Police Department and State Police, and they’re trying to follow up leads and get the other individuals in custody, but I do not believe it was random.

LOFTIS: You’re actively searching for the other individual in this incident.

GRIFFIN: Yes, one and possibly two. We’re of at least one, but there’s a possibility there is more than one.

LOFTIS: And limited information is available about those because the two people that were hurt, the homeowner and the one individual, they were both in surgery.

GRIFFIN: Yes. One individual was being flown out of the Mountain Home area to another hospital, and the other one was in surgery in Mountain Home. So we have somewhat limited information.

LOFTIS: Tell us again the area in question.

GRIFFIN: It’s 926 East 16th Street, which is Windy Hills Mobile Home Park.

LOFTIS: And if anyone has any information or sees something suspicious, they need to reach out to the Mountain Home City Police Department.

GRIFFIN: That would be correct, and we’ll get in touch with one of the investigators and follow up with them.
