The sales tax revenue for Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home continues to sees increases for February.
According Mountain Homes Director of Finance and Treasury Alma Clark, the city collected a total of $639,352 in city sales tax revenue for February which is an increase of 3.55% for the month. Year-to-date, the city has seen a total increase of $39,284 or 3.33%.
Figures released by Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize show Baxter County’s revenue portion equals $535,255. This time last year, Baxter County received $511,324 which is an increase of 23,930 or 4.7%.
Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. The following numbers were received in February, which reflect area spending from the month of December.
Mountain Home received $289,550 in county sales tax. When compared to last year’s total of $276,604, it is an increase of 4.68%. The year-to-date increase equals $23,799 or 4.47%.
Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:
– Gassville, which received $49,014;
– Cotter, which received $20,003;
– Lakeview, which received $17,497;
– Salesville, which received $10,678;
– Norfork, which received $10,498;
– Briarcliff, which received $5,328; and
– Big Flat, which received $1,986.
Baxter County received $234,953 in revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center.
Mountain Home received $239,757 from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments. At this time last year, the city received $231,523, which is a monthly increase of 3.56%. The year-to-date increase is nearly $14,744 or 3.34%.
Mountain Home has collected nearly $319,676 for February from the park improvement sales tax, which is $99,392 more than needed for Bond Payment of $220,283 for 2024.
Park operation sales tax for February equals $159,838.
