Listen:
The first game on the boys’ bracket ended with the Bombers losing to Benton 60-38. Mountain Home had shooting struggles all throughout the game, but in the first half, the Panthers had the same trouble. Benton went into the locker room leading 18-15 at the break, but they took over from there. Terrion Burgess exploded for 14 points in the third quarter alone. The Panthers outscored the Bombers 20-11 in the third period and 22-12 in the final quarter on their way to a 22-point win.
Braiden Dewey led Mountain Home with 11 points, and Rhett Gilbert added 10. Burgess scored 18 points for Benton, Jevarious Russell had 13, and Caleb Knight chipped in 10.
The Panthers improve to 27-4, and they’ll return to Searcy on Thursday for their quarterfinal game against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Valley View and Maumelle. The Bombers wrap up the year with a record of 20-11.
