Cotter Public Schools was recently honored and recognized for its Gifted and Talented (GT) program at the 2024 AGATE Conference in Hot Springs. As the recipient of the ACT 56 Award for schools under 1000 students, the program is leading the way in the state for providing programming options for students that go above and beyond standards set by the Arkansas Board of Education.
Cotter GT coordinator and facilitator, Lisa Coots, says GT programs are critical for students beyond post secondary education.

Coots says the program creates opportunities for students to collaborate and apply what they learn as well as offer experiences that are unique from the standard classroom routine.

The ACT 56 award includes a $3000 cash prize, which the students are busy brainstorming how those funds will get used to enrich the program.
