The ASU-Mountain Home baseball team returned to Cooper Park on Thursday and picked up another win in dominating fashion. The Trailblazers routed ASU Mid-South 17-4.
ASU-Mountain Home got the scoring started in the first inning with a three-run home run by Jackson Down. The Blazers had a five-run second after Christopher Tillery and Sammy Lemond drew a pair of RBI walks, Alex Harrell and Jason Young each hit a sacrifice fly, and Kolby Webb drove in another run after getting hit by a pitch.
ASU-Mountain Home added another run in the third frame on a sacrifice fly by Tillery. The Blazers exploded again in the fourth with seven runs on five hits. Logen Walker had an RBI single in the inning, Tillery provided a two-run single, Lemond hit an RBI triple, Down added an RBI double, another run was scored on an error, and Gabriel Ellison wrapped up the inning with a sacrifice fly. One more run was put on the board for ASU-Mountain Home off a solo shot by Down.
Trent Jordan was credited with the victory as he pitched four inning, struck out four batters and gave up three hits and no walks. He also allowed three runs, but none of them were earned. Braden Campbell took the mound for one scoreless inning and gave up no hits and no walks.
Down drove in five runs and stole multiple bases for the Blazers. Ellison drew three walks and also stole multiple bases. ASU-Mountain Home drew a total of 10 walks and stole 10 bases.
The Blazers improve to 11-3 on the season, and they’ll face the Greyhounds again on Saturday in a doubleheader at West Memphis.
