MHHS girls among area basketball teams in state quarterfinals on Friday

Friday’s high school basketball schedule includes Mountain Home’s girls competing in the quarterfinals of the Class 5A State Tournament at Searcy. The Lady Bombers will be going up against Vilonia in a matchup of teams ranked by the Arkansas Sports Media.
Mountain Home is currently ranked fifth in Class 5A, and they entered the tournament as the the No. 3 seed from the West. The Lady Bombers are 23-8 after their win over Benton on Thursday. Vilonia ranked third in Class 5A and eighth overall in the latest poll, and they went into the tournament as the 5A-Central conference champions. The Lady Eagles defeated Nettleton on Wednesday to improve to 24-6.
Tip-off at Lion Arena is scheduled for 7. Friday’s game will be broadcast on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and the Bomber Sports Network on YouTube.

Four area teams will play their quarterfinal games in the Class 2A State Tournament at Mansfield. On the girls’ side, Cotter and Mount Vernon-Enola tip off at 1, Marshall meets the host Lady Tigers at 4, and Izard County faces Acorn at 7. The Marshall boys take on Lavaca at 5:30.

Two area teams will wrap up the quarterfinals of the Class 1A State Tournament on the south campus of North Arkansas College in Harrison. Norfork’s girls play Emerson at 4, and the Rural Special boys will be paired with Brinkley at 8:30.

Four area teams will take part in the quarterfinals of the Class 3A State Tournament at Elkins. On the girls’ bracket, Mountain View and Bergman get underway at 1, and Salem meets Lamar at 7. Bergman’s boys face Osceola at 2:30.

In Missouri, two area girls’ teams will square off in the semifinals of the Class 5, District 6 Tournament. West Plains takes on Branson at 7:30.
