A number of races were decided Tuesday night in the Primary Election. In Baxter County, out of 29,472 registered voters, 6,879 voters cast their ballot counting for 23.34% of the vote.
As a reminder all voting results are unofficial until ten days following the election when they are certified.
RUNOFF TO BE HELD APRIL 2
A runoff election will be held April 2 for two races, Justice of the Peace for District 11 and Baxter County Constable District 1. For the Justice of the Peace, the race will be between Eric Payne who received 212 votes against Toney Brasuell who received 191 votes. In third came Ezra Roberts with 150 votes and Carla Dennis with 105 votes.
In the Constable District 1 race, the runoff will be between Douglas Stephens who received 246 votes and Jeromy Weaver who received 136. Candidate Jamie Binnion came in a close third with 132 votes.
SCHOOL BOARD RACES
In the race for Position 5 of the Mountain Home Public Schools Board of Education, Mollie Morgan received 3,043 votes and Russell Luder received 1,517 votes.

Viola Public Schools Board of Education had one seat on the ballot with two candidates. In the race for Position 4, Mike Richardson received 74 votes and Jason Perryman received 46 votes. Unofficial results from Fulton County show Richardson with 347 votes and Perryman with 144 votes giving Richardson a total of 421 votes and Perryman with a total of 190 votes.
STATE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
In District 4 for the State House of Representatives, Baxter County voters gave Jason Nazarenko 1,445 votes and Justice Tink Albright 662 votes. These votes will be added to votes they receive in Marion County. Unofficial votes from Marion County show Nazarenko with 905 votes and Albright with 334 giving Nazarenko a total of 2,350 votes and Albright with a total of 996 votes.
In District 27, Baxter County residents gave Incumbent Steven Walker 18 votes and Timmy Reid 9 votes. These votes will be added to their totals in surrounding areas of Newton, Searcy, Izard and Stone counties.
BAXTER COUNTY QUORUM COURT
In addition to District 11, three other seats for Justice of the Peace were on the ballot including District 2, District 6 and District 7.
In the District 2 race Mike McDonald received 354 votes and Daniel Carley received 134 votes. McDonald will face Democrat Johnny Rickman in November.
Lisa House received 347 in the District 6 race and Mark Medley received 219. There is not a Democrat candidate running for the seat in November.
In District 7, Bob Nault received 238 votes over incumbent Dr. Charles Osgood with a total of 221 votes. Nault will face Democrat Derek Huber in the November election.
GASSVILLE AND COTTER SALES TAX RESULTS
In the proposed half-cent sales tax, which would help fund repairs on the sewer and waste water treatment facility the city shares with the City of Cotter, voters in close margin approved the sales tax 120 votes to 113.
Cotter residents also approved the city to borrow funds through sewer improvements bonds to help with the project with 184 voting for the measure and 15 voting against.
STATE SUPREME COURT
In the race for State Supreme Court Chief Justice Position 1, in Baxter County Barbara Womack Webb received 1,925 votes, Karen Baker received 1,637 votes, Rhonda Wood received 1,230 votes and Jay Martin received 1,087 votes.
For State Supreme Court Associate Justice Position 2 Courtney Hudson received 3,629 votes and Carlton Jones received 2,015 votes.
PRESIDENTIAL RACES
In the Republican Presidential Primary, Donald Trump received 4,901 votes, followed by Nikki Haley with 968 and Asa Hutchinson with 141. Ron DeSantis received 65, Vivek Ramaswamy received 14, Chris Christie received 9 and Ryan Binkley received 1. Candidates David Stuckenberg and Doug Burgum received no votes.
In the Democrat Presidential Primary, Joseph Biden received 533 votes, Marianne Williamson received 24, Dean Phillips received 12, Stephen Lyons received 8, Frankie Lozada received 2 and Armando Perez-Serrato received 1.
MILLAGE VOTES
In the annual millage votes Mountain Home Public Schools received 2,874 against and 2,154 for the tax; Cotter Public Schools received 444 for the tax and 283 against; Norfork Public Schools received 412 against the tax and 247 for the tax; Viola Public Schools received 86 against the tax and 44 for the tax; Calico Rock Public Schools received 3 for the tax and 2 against; and in the Mountain View School District 20 voted for the tax and 12 against.
