The Mountain Home High School softball team was able to win its opener Monday at McClain Park. The Lady Bombers squeaked by Southside Batesville 7-6. Emma King recorded eight strikeouts in the circle. Offensively for Mountain Home, Kiley Horne was 3-for-4 with an RBI; Brooklyn Arms went 2-for-2, drew two walks and drove in a run; Natalie Fleet was 1-for-3 with an RBI; Libby Dewey went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice bunt; and Daelyn Harper was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. The Lady Bombers begin the year at 1-0.
Mountain Home also took the junior varsity game 8-2 over Southside. Dewey went 2-for-2 and was hit by a pitch, Jayla Yonkers was 2-for-3, Haley Kotlicky and Kierra Alkire both went 1-for-2, Sarah Williams was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and Laken Anderson went 1-for-3.
The evening wrapped up with Mountain Home’s junior high squad shutting out Southside 7-0. Chloe Bohannon struck out 12 batters. The Junior Lady Bombers are also 1-0 on the year.
In Monday’s other softball results, Norfork fell to Calico Rock 17-0, Viola blanked Cave City 13-0, Izard County routed Highland 13-1, and Harrison lost to Clinton 10-3.
Yellville-Summit’s baseball team had a rough day at home as they fell to Salem 6-2.
