The Baxter County Quorum Court took just under 15 minutes to move through a routine agenda for its March meeting Tuesday evening. A few appropriations of funds were a majority of the items on the agenda.

The court voted to approve an ordinance to appropriate funds in the amount of $65,571 from the Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency (LATC) fund carryover budget to the LATC 2024 budget, an ordinance to appropriate funds in the amount of $89,100 from the 14th Judicial drug court fund into the 14th Judicial drug court 2024 budget due to an unintentional operational error in the budgeting process, an ordinance appropriating funds in the amount of $6,000 from the county’s general fund into the sheriff’s office 2024 budget due to an oversight in the budgeting process to cover the cost of the 2023 identity theft hacking, and an ordinance to appropriate fees and reimbursements in the month of January to the Sheriff’s Office 2024 budget.

The quorum court also approved a resolution to appoint Debbie Rowland to the Norfork Fire Protection District Board of Commissioners. She fills the position held by Rodger Pitchford who is unable to complete the remainder of his term.
