Mountain Home began its run in the Prairie Grove Baseball Tournament on a good note as they shut out Elkins 6-0 on Wednesday. Ian Ellison was the winning pitcher as he improved to 2-0, and Drew Haney picked up his second save. Ryder McClain led the Bomber offense by going 3-for-4 at the plate. Mountain Home improves to 3-1 on the season, and their semifinal game will be Friday at Elkins.
Harrison is also competing in the Prairie Grove Baseball Tournament. The Goblins did not fare as well in their opener as they fell to the host Tigers 8-0. Harrison will compete Friday evening on the consolation side of the bracket against the loser of the afternoon game between Heber Springs and Dardanelle.
In other baseball, Viola swept a doubleheader over Rural Special at home. The Longhorns took the first game over the Rebels 17-0 and won the late game 22-1.
Melbourne’s second straight game in 3A-2 conference play ended on a successful note. The Bearkatz blanked Newport by a final of 2-0.
