Less than a week after a vehicle ran off the road and into Norfork Lake, a candlelight vigil will be held in prayer for the lone survivor and in memory of the three killed in the incident. The vigil will be held Sunday evening at 7:30 at the Pigeon Creek boat ramp as two-year-old Paris Cooney remains at Mercy Hospital in Springfield in critical but stable condition, according to a friend of the family.
The accident is under investigation by the Arkansas State Police, and no official report has been released. Twenty-three-year-old Savannah Burton of Mountain Home and two of her children, seven-year-old Londyn Cooney and six-month-old Sydney Steele, were killed in the incident, while Paris Cooney survived.
The accident happened when Burton’s vehicle left Arkansas Highway 201 near the Pigeon Creek bridge and went into Norfork Lake shortly after noon. No other details about the accident have been released.
Emergency responders from the Clarkridge Volunteer Fire Department; Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, including their dive team; Baxter Health; U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Arkansas State Police assisted at the scene.
