DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) – Izaiyah Nelson had 17 points in Arkansas State’s 74-61 win against Montana on Monday in the quarterfinals of the CBI Tournament.
Nelson also contributed 12 rebounds for the Red Wolves (20-16). Freddy Hicks added 13 points while going 5 of 18 from the floor, including 0 for 7 from 3-point range, and 3 for 4 from the line while he also had seven rebounds. Derrian Ford shot 4 for 11 (3 for 7 from 3-point range) and 2 of 3 from the free-throw line to finish with 13 points.
The Grizzlies (24-12) were led by Laolu Oke, who recorded 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Josh Vazquez added 12 points for Montana. Te’Jon Sawyer also recorded nine points.
Arkansas State will continue action in the CBI at Daytona Beach, Fla., as they meet top-seeded High Point in the semifinals. Tip-off at the Ocean Center is scheduled for 6. Tuesday’s game can be seen on ESPN2.
