
The Mountain Home High School softball team had a successful evening at McClain Park as they swept a conference doubleheader over Harrison on Tuesday.
The mercy rule was invoked in the fifth inning of the opener as the Lady Bombers breezed past the Lady Goblins 14-4. Emma King picked up the win in the circle as she struck out two batters. Offensively for Mountain Home, Daelyn Harper was 2-for-4 with a grand slam in the fifth inning and two additional RBIs; Kiley Horne went 2-for-2, drew two walks and drove in two runs; Karleigh Drewry was 2-for-2 with a walk; Libby Dewey went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI; and Brooklyn Arms was 1-for-3 and was hit by a pitch.
The late game ended with the Lady Bombers topping Harrison 6-1. King was again the winning pitcher with five strikeouts, and she also went 2-for-2 at the plate and drew a walk. Harper was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Natalie Fleet went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly and three RBIs.
Mountain Home improves to 7-5 on the season and 4-0 in the 5A-West, and they’ll host Melbourne on Friday.
In other softball action, Cotter squeaked by Valley Springs 4-3, Viola fell to Calico Rock 17-15, Izard County routed Cedar Ridge 12-2, and Mountain View lost to Walnut Ridge 12-0.
In high school baseball, Viola defeated Calico Rock 15-0, Izard County fell to Cedar Ridge 10-4, and Lead Hill picked up a 16-9 win over Alpena.
