The latest unemployment numbers from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services and the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center show February’s unemployment rates in north central Arkansas improved while southern Missouri counties saw an increase when compared January.
In Baxter County, the rate declined from 4.7% in January to 4.1% in February. Baxter County’s rate is tied for the 36th lowest out of Arkansas’ 75 counties. There are 680 unemployed Baxter County residents out of a work force of 16,723.
Marion County’s rate went down from 5.7% in January to 4.9% in February, ranking it as tied for the 61st lowest in the state. Marion County has 289 residents out of work from a work force of 5,869.
Fulton County’s unemployment rate went down from 4.7% in January to 4.1% in February, which means they are tied for the 36th lowest rate in the state. Fulton County has a labor force of 4,481 and 184 are unemployed.
The unemployment rate in Izard County decreased from 5.8% in January to 5.1% in February, which has them tied for number 61 out of 75 counties in Arkansas. There are 223 Izard County residents unemployed out of a work force of 4,378.
In Stone County, the rate decreased from 5.7% in January to 4.8% in February. That ranks Stone County tied for 58th in the state. There are 4,422 in the labor force in Stone County with 214 unemployed.
Searcy County’s unemployment rate dwindled from 5.3% to 4.8% in February, ranking them tied for 58th in Arkansas. There are 136 people unemployed in Searcy County out of a work force of 2,812.
Boone County saw its rate shrink from 4% in January to 3.5% in February, putting them in a tie for the 14th lowest rate in the state. Boone County has a work force of 15,919 with 562 out of work.
Newton County is tied for the state’s 53rd lowest unemployment rate at 4.5%, down from 4.9% the previous month. Newton County has a labor force of 3,201 with 145 of those unemployed.
Arkansas’s unemployed rate in February was 3.6%, down from 3.7% the previous month.
In southern Missouri, Ozark County’s rate stands at 7.7%, up from 7% in January. Ozark County has 267 unemployed out of a work force of 3,470.
Douglas County saw its rate increase from 3.6% in January to 3.9% in February. In Douglas County, the labor force is 5,222, and there are 205 out of work.
Howell County had a slight dip, going from 4.3% to 4.2% in February. Howell County has work force of 16,329 with 692 unemployed.
Taney County’s rate escalated from 11.3% in January to 14% in February. There are 3,520 unemployed in Taney County out of a labor force of 25,231.
Missouri’s rate increased from 3.8% in January to 4% in February.
