Two area schools competed in the 1A-1 East Junior Conference Meet Monday at Harrison.
Lead Hill finished second on the girls’ side, and Omaha was fourth. Kingston ended up with the title. The top area performer was Lead Hill’s Kennedy Hudson as she won the pole vault and took second place in the 100-meter hurdles and the 1600-meter run.
Omaha finished second in the boys’ results, and Lead Hill was third. Kingston also won the boys’ championship. Tyler Liggett of Omaha had a strong showing as he won the long jump, the triple jump, the 110-meter hurdles, the 800-meter run and the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.
On the high school level, three area schools took part in the Howell County Invitational at Mountain View-Liberty.
Dora ended up fourth in the girls’ team standings, and Ava took seventh place. The championship was captured by Houston. Among the individual results, Dora’s Chloe Barton won the 400-meter dash. Also for the Lady Falcons, Kinley Luna, Barton, Kara Anderson and Haley Perkins won the 4×400-meter relay; and Anderson, Kayden Jones, Isabelle Martin and Barton won the 4×800-meter relay.
On the boys’ side, Dora finished seventh, Ava was eighth, and Bakersfield ended up 11th. Liberty kept the title at home. Cade Nold of Dora won the 800-meter and 1600-meter runs. The Falcons’ team of Joshua Nold, Taber Walker, Josiah Ward and Cade Nold won the 4×400-meter relay.
