Monday is Tax Day. April 15 is the deadline for Americans to file their federal income tax returns.
Paper copies need to be in the mail by Monday, and that is also the due date for those submitting their returns online. Those filing an extension will also need to have Form 4868 in by Monday, and the due date to file taxes will be Oct. 15. However, it is important to note an extension to file is not an extension to pay any taxes owed. Taxpayers unable to pay their taxes in full by the Monday deadline should still file their returns and pay as much as they can to avoid penalties and interest charges.
Monday is also the deadline for state income taxes to be filed in Arkansas and Missouri. Those filing an extension on federal returns will not need to file one for state taxes.
