Several junior high track athletes gathered at Bomber Stadium in Mountain Home on Tuesday for the 1A-2 Junior Conference Meet. Greers Ferry West Side swept both team titles.
On the girls’ side, Timbo finished second, Rural Special was third, and Norfork ended up fourth. Individually, Norfork’s Maggie Tyrone won the high jump, Bellah Kirby of Rural Special won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, and Rural Special’s Emma Jo Lejeune won the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Aimee Johnson, Cate Shaddy, Avery Davis and Tyrone won the 4×200-meter relay; Rural Special’s Kirby, Natalie Newman, Marlee Richardson and Allysa Stone won the 4×100-meter relay; and Mary Rogers, Richardson, Newman and Jordan Stone won the 4×400-meter relay.
In the boys’ results, Timbo took second place, Rural Special finished fourth, and Norfork was fifth. Timbo’s Jake Currie won the 800-meter and 1600-meter runs, and Logan Newman of Rural Special won the shot put and the discus. Timbo’s Trestyn Smith, Gabriel Treadway, Carson Schrock and Currie won the 4×400-meter relay; and Treadway, Lane Wesley, Michael De La Paz and Schrock of Timbo won the 4×800-meter relay.
Izard County and Marshall went to Quitman for the 2A-2 Junior Conference Meet.
On the boys’ side, the Junior Cougars ended up third, and the Junior Bobcats took fourth place. White County Central won the championship. Izard County’s Aaron Dockins won the 100-meter and 200-meter hurdles hurdles.
Among the girls, Izard County finished fourth, and Marshall was fifth. The win went to Quitman. Willa Everett of Izard County won the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump.
