Before the board adjourned the executive session, Food Service Supervisor Tom Merry recognized the food service employees for their creativity in experimenting with new menu items. Merry stated their goal was to provide tasty, visually appealing and nutritious meals to encourage increased student participation in the district’s child nutrition program through meals in the main line, à la carte options and weekly adult meal specials. The food service department met that goal, and in à la carte sales alone, it generated more than $30,000 in additional revenue for the food service fund. With these accomplishments, Merry proposed to the Board to give each staff member a $500 bonus from the food service fund. The Board unanimously approved.
