The Mountain Home City Council approved the purchase of eight new trucks for several different departments during a quick meeting Thursday night. The council waived competitive bidding to make all of the purchases from Ultimate Auto Group in Mountain Home whose bids came in lower than the state bids.
The city will purchase two one-ton and three half-ton trucks for the street department, two half-ton trucks for the water and sewer department and one half-ton truck for the parks department. The total price of the trucks is $358,076. The city will save $7,992 by purchasing the trucks locally as opposed to the state bid.
In other business, the council approved an ordinance enacting revisions to the city’s existing ordinances into one unified code book and they repealed city ordinance no. 121. It was originally passed in 1954 establishing the Parks and Recreation Commission which has since been taken over by the city’s Park Committee and the city itself.
