Cotter School Board approves 5 new hires during April session

The Cotter School Board dealt with several personnel matters when they went into executive session during their regular April meeting on Thursday.

Rory Davis has been unanimously selected as the district’s new athletic director and head baseball coach, and he will also serve as a high school teacher. Davis will be succeeding Jarod Jefferson, who will be promoted to the position of high school principal in July.

Kelly Davis and Jamie Benefiel will become teachers at Amanda Gist Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year. For the remainder of the current school year and the upcoming year, Debbie Grinder will work in food service, and Brent Williams will work in robotics. In addition, the contract of paraprofessional Ashley Lipe was not renewed, and the resignation of custodian Aaron Lindsey was accepted effective April 11.

In addition, the board unanimously approved the salary schedules for certified and classified personnel, the extra duty pay schedule, the classified contract renewals, the special education assurance and the General Education Provision Act statement.

The board also approved the transfer of a student to the Cotter School District from Mountain Home. Superintendent Jayme Jones reported the elementary enrollment at 392 and the high school enrollment at 317 for a total enrollment of 709.
