Friday results include MHHS softball team beating Marshall

The Mountain Home High School softball team picked up another win on Friday as they shut out Marshall 10-0 in five innings at McClain Park. Daelyn Harper went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in a run for the Lady Bombers, Karleigh Drewry was 2-for-3, Brooklyn Arms went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Kiley Horne was 1-for-2 with a walk, Natalie Fleet went 1-for-3 and drove in three runs, and Emma King was 1-for-3. Mountain Home improves to 12-10 on the season, and they’ll host a varsity doubleheader against Greenbrier on Tuesday for Senior Night.
Mountain Home ended up in a 6-6 tie with Marshall in the junior varsity contest.

Elsewhere, Norfork fell to Greers Ferry West Side 17-1, Viola defeated Calico Rock 17-5, Salem blanked Cave City 20-0, Izard County shut out South Side-Bee Branch 1-0, Melbourne topped Walnut Ridge 8-0, Mountain View was edged out by Newport 1-0, and Lead Hill lost to Jasper 18-15.

Mountain Home’s junior varsity baseball team was able to sweep a doubleheader over West Plains at Pitts Field. The J.V. Bombers took the first game 5-1, and they also beat the J.V. Zizzers 13-1 in the late contest.

In varsity baseball, two area teams began action in the Southern Missouri Invitational at Dora. Bakersfield doubled up the host Falcons 10-5, but they fell to Hartville 8-0. Dora also lost to Hartville 5-1.

Elsewhere, Cotter beat Marshall 10-1, Norfork fell to Greers Ferry West Side 13-2, Flippin breezed past Guy-Perkins 13-4, Yellville-Summit lost to Rose Bud 11-7, Viola topped Calico Rock 16-1, Salem squeaked by Cave City 5-4, Mountain View fell to Newport 11-5, Lead Hill lost to Jasper 18-8, and Valley Springs fell to Clinton 12-2.
