A fire to a pile of trash spread to a residential shop building in the Elizabeth area last week and damaged two vehicles and other items inside. No injuries were reported at the residence located at 928 County Road 139.
According to the incident report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was dispatched just before 7 Thursday evening for a report of a structure fire. Baxter County 911 dispatch advised the deputy everyone was out of the structure.
The deputy arrived to find local agencies at the residence owned by Susan and Daniel Johnson. The deputy made contact with Susan Johnson, who was attempting to assist fire personnel. She reportedly said she was burning a small pile of trash next to the shop building and left it unattended. She stated she suspected hearing crackling while doing landscaping work on her property and realized the shop building was on fire.
Susan Johnson told the deputy the contents inside the building included an older style pickup truck, another vehicle, multiple tools, equipment and other miscellaneous items.
