Norfork girls finish 16th, boys in in tie for 22nd in Class 1A State Track Meet

Norfork was among area high schools competing in the Class 1A State Track Meet at Quitman.

The Lady Panthers finished 16th in the girls’ team standings. In addition, Rural Special was tied for sixth place, Omaha ended up 13th, Viola took 15th place, Mammoth Spring finished tied for 19th, and Lead Hill was tied for 26th. The state title went to Ozark Catholic.

Two area athletes ended up with individual victories on the girls’ side. Norfork’s Keely Blanchard won the high jump, and Rayleigh Turner of Rural Special won the triple jump.

Norfork ended up tied for 22nd place on the boys’ side. Omaha took sixth place, Timbo finished tied for 15th, Lead Hill was 24th, and Mammoth Spring ended up in a three-way tie for 31st place. Founders Classical Academy captured the boys’ title.

The Panthers’ top performance came from Noah Shaw in the 300-meter hurdles. Omaha had wins from Trey Searle in the triple jump and from Brett Arnold, Jonathan McKinney, Dylan Greenwood and Briar Whitehurst in the 4×400-meter relay.
