A Mountain Home man has been arrested again for allegedly taking payments from customers to do construction work, starting the work and then not fishing the projects. The investigation by the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office and Mountain Home Police Department into 48-year-old Robert Shane Daniel has led to 15 charges being filed.

According to affidavits in the case and information from the sheriff’s office, Daniel’s company, Ozarks Home Pro, was hired to do various construction and remodel jobs. According to the victims, Daniel purported to be a licensed and insured contractor. He received large down payments from the victims prior to the work beginning. The payments ranged from $15,000 to $40,000.

Investigators say Daniel would start the work, but never finish it. After months of the victims attempting to get Daniel to complete the jobs with no results, the victims filed complaints with law enforcement.

During the investigation, it was learned Daniel does not have a license to do construction work and has received over $40,000 in civil penalties from the Arkansas Contractor’s Board.

Daniel is facing six felony counts of obtaining a signature by deception, two felony counts of theft of property over $25,000, three felony counts of theft of property over $5,000 and four misdemeanor counts of not having a residential contractor’s committee license. He is also facing a penalty enhancement for being a habitual offender, meaning he has four or more felony convictions. He is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center on bonds totaling $135,000.

Other cases are under investigation including reports of Daniel soliciting investors in a new company.

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is also working on cases outside of Baxter County involving Daniel.

Daniel was arrested in Stone County in 2022 after an elderly victim paid him $19,200 for three construction projects which he never started. That case was later dismissed after Daniel paid restitution to the victim.

At that time, law enforcement said he has been convicted of charges of theft by deception in Arkansas and Georgia four or more times.
