Farmington holds off late rally, beats Pea Ridge for Class 4A state softball title

After being up 6-0 in the Class 4A state championship game, Farmington’s softball team had to hold off a seventh inning rally by Pea Ridge Friday morning. The Lady Blackhawks scored five straight runs in the home half of the frame, but they that was all they would get as the Lady Cardinals held on for the 6-5 win.

Farmington pitcher Morgan Reeves was named the most valuable player as she pitched a complete game, struck out four batters and gave up five hits, three walks and five earned runs. Morgan Uher led the Lady Cardinals’ offense by going 3-for-3, drawing a walk, scoring a run and driving in three more; Reese Shirey went 2-for-4 and scored twice; Kinley Meek was 1-for-3 with a two-run home run; and Justine Davidson and Kennedy Riggs each went 1-for-3 and scored a run.

For Pea Ridge, Callie Cooper was 2-for-4 with a three-run shot over the right field fence; Ashlynn Short went 1-for-3, scored a run and drove in another; and Zaylee Warden was 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Farmington concludes its season at 23-5. The Lady Blackhawks ended up falling to 25-6.
