Ouachita edges out Woodlawn for Class 2A state baseball championship

Ouachita’s baseball team picked up its third state championship in program history and its first in nine years. The Warriors edged out Woodlawn 2-1 in the Class 2A game.

Ouachita’s Trey Cox was named the MVP as he threw 100 pitches in a complete game victory. He recorded six strikeouts and gave up two hits, three walks and an earned run.

Jayden Alston led the Warrior offense by going 2-for-3 and scoring a run, Larson Fowler was 1-for-2 with a run, Judd Smith went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Colton Braswell added a sacrifice fly.

For the Bears, Jayden Wilmoth went 1-for-1 and was hit by two pitches, Dillon Lunsford was 1-for-2 with a walk, and Tate Hall scored the team’s lone run.

Ouachita ends the season at 20-12. Woodlawn falls to 34-2.
