An Izard County man was sentenced to 20 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections last week for possession of child pornography and still has open rape cases in two other counties. Forty-one-year-old Terry Lynn Johnson Jr. of Horseshoe Bend was given the sentence as part of a plea deal after being charged with 55 counts of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting child sex.

Johnson Jr. was arrested in April of last year after Verizon flagged his phone number for allegedly uploading images showing child sexual abuse in 2022.

Johnson is facing five counts of rape in two other counties involving a 13-year-old female.

During an interview with an Arkansas State Police investigator, the victim says she and Johnson had sexual contact five times, four of them in Sharp County and one time in Fulton County.

Johnson is currently being held in the Fulton County Jail awaiting trial on those charges. His Fulton County trial is set to begin July 10 while his trial in Sharp County is scheduled to begin July 15. A motion in Fulton County by Johnson’s attorney to join the trials together was denied last week. The same motion in Sharp County has not yet been acted upon by the judge.

Johnson’s bond is set at $500,000.
