The man who has coached the most high school football games in the state of Arkansas, is the third winningest coach in the state and built the Harrison program into one of the best in the state is coming out of retirement. Seventy-two-year-old Tommy Tice has been hired as the new head coach at Farmington.

When Tice takes the field with his team this fall, it will have been nine years since he last called a play. After leading the Goblins for 29 seasons, Tice went back to Huntsville for several years, the place where he began his career, coaching his last game there in 2015. He stayed two more years as Athletic Director.

Tice has 289 career victories, only 12 behind Cabot’s Mike Malham for number two all-time in Arkansas. Barton’s Frank Barton is number one on the list with 346 career wins.

Tice led Harrison to its only state championship in 1999.

Tice replaces J.R. Eldridge who led the Cardinals to a 7-4 overall record and 6-1 mark in the 5A West last season.
