Area residents gathered at the Mountain Home Plaza 2000 for the annual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday. This year’s keynote speaker was retired U.S. Army Colonel Nate Todd of Pine Bluff.
Col. Todd began his address by asking attendees to call out the names of family members or friends who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service of the United States. The name he called was the late Army Col. Brian Allgood, an Arkansan killed in 2007 while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Col. Todd went on to recognize Baxter County for taking this day to stop and remember those killed in combat, but he also said not every American stops.
