The annual Memorial Day Ceremony is scheduled for Monday morning at 11 at the Mountain Home Plaza 2000 across from the Baxter County Courthouse. The North Central Arkansas Veterans Council will sponsor this year’s event. The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 30 will be the host organization, with Commander Dan Hall serving as the master of ceremonies.

This year’s keynote speaker is retired Colonel Nate Todd of Pine Bluff. Todd currently serves on the American Legion Arkansas Boys State Commission. He’s a former secretary of the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs and chief financial officer of the Central Arkansas Veterans Health Care System in North Little Rock. Prior to his military retirement, Todd served as the health financial policy director in the U.S. Army Surgeon General’s Office.

In addition, Redeemer Lutheran Church Pastor Kevin McReynolds will present the invocation, and Raquel Houk will perform the national anthem. Participating veterans organizations will provide the colors, and the Alley-White American Legion Honor Guard will perform the rifle salute and the playing of taps.

For anyone unable to attend, the program can be heard on KTLO-FM 97.9 and streaming live at ktlo.com. After the ceremonies, cupcakes and coffee will be served at the Ozark VFW Post 3246 on West Seventh Street in Mountain Home.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Family Life Center at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church.
