Governor Sanders speaks with first responders in Marion County   

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders toured storm damage across the state Monday and ended her visit in Marion County.

The day began with Sanders surveying damage in the Rogers area then making her way east into north central Arkansas. She was joined by District 4 State Representative Jack Fortner in Flippin and then proceeded to take an aerial tour of damage in Marion County. She and Fortner then made a ground tour in the Pyatt area visiting with local residents impacted by Sunday morning’s storms. The tour ended with a final stop at the Marion County Fairgrounds Community Center in Summit where a temporary Red Cross Shelter had been established.

Gov. Sanders met with local officials from the county as well as first responders from the area. Many area fire and rescue departments were in attendance including Yellville, Summit and Flippin. In a speech to those gathered, she spoke of the resilience she witnessed in residents and a true spirit of neighbor taking care of neighbor.

Sanders spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News and said pictures don’t do justice to the destruction she witnessed.
