Earlier this month, an officer with the Blytheville Police Department came into contact with pills suspected to be Fentanyl during an arrest. While taking the suspect to jail, he radioed he wasn’t feeling well. Other officers responded and found him unconscious and rushed him to the hospital.

While at the hospital, those two officers began showing signs of exposure and lost consciousness. A nurse treating the first officer later showed signs of Fentanyl overdose and had to be treated as well.

The drug is obviously a danger to not only those using it illegally, but to law enforcement and emergency room personnel.

Mountain Home Police Chief Eddie Griffin says law enforcement is seeing more and more Fentanyl usage in the Twin Lakes Area.

The Mountain Home police chief says they have never has any officer suffer any serious affects from Fentanyl like they did in Blytheville earlier this month, but several officers have had to go to the emergency room to be checked out as a precaution.
