The sales tax revenue for Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home remains steady for May.
According to the Mountain Home Director of Finance and Treasury Alma Clark, the city collected a total of $608,144 in city sales tax revenue for May which is an increase of 2.88% for the month. Year-to-date, the city has seen a total increase of $80,785 or 2.8578%.
Figures released by Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize show Baxter County’s revenue portion equals $525,801. This time last year, Baxter County received $512,468 which is an increase of $13,332 or 2.6%.
Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. The following numbers were received in May, which reflect area spending from the month of March.
Mountain Home received $284,435 in county sales tax. When compared to last year’s total of $277,223, which is a increase of 2.6%. The year-to-date increase equals $37,173 or 2.87%.
Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:
– Gassville, which received $48,148;
– Cotter, which received $19,649;
– Lakeview, which received $17,188;
– Salesville, which received $10,490;
– Norfork, which received $10,312;
– Briarcliff, which received $5,234; and
– Big Flat, which received $1,951.
Baxter County received $230,803 in revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center.
Mountain Home received $234,627 from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments. At this time last year, the city received $228,054, which is a monthly increase of 2.8821%. The year-to-date increase is nearly $30,307 or 2.8591%.
Mountain Home has collected nearly $312,835 for March from the park improvement sales tax, which is $92,552 more than needed for Bond Payment of $220,283 for 2024.
Park operation sales tax for March equals $156,418.
