A West Plains woman is facing charges following a fatal drunk-driving crash in Howell County in December 2023.
Twenty-year-old Taylor Hamby is currently facing charges of DWI resulting in the death of another and two counts of DWI resulting in physical injury. Twenty-eight-year-old Brian Powell died as a result of the crash.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, investigators stated at approximately 4:40 in the morning of December 23, 2023, a Jeep Cherokee driven by Hamby went off the road at a curve on Missouri Route ZZ east of West Plains. Three fences were hit and the Jeep overturned in a field. Two passengers in the Jeep were injured and a third passenger died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Investigators stated Hamby admitted to drinking five to seven beers before the incident.
