With summer underway many young people will be earning money or watching family members in the age old tradition of babysitting. The Schliemann Center for Women’s Health is offering a program to help educate and prepare babysitters on what to do in case of emergencies through their Safe Sitting Babysitting program.

Kicking off this Wednesday and Thursday the two day program will be hosted by local registered nurses from 9-3 at the Schleimann Center. Coordinator for the center, Stefany Isham recently was a guest on KTLO’s morning show and she says the kids enjoy the program while also learning critical first aid skills.

The course also teaches young people the important skill of how to contact 911 and how to calmly relay information to dispatchers.

The cost for the course is $35 but scholarships are available and Isham stresses that they never want cost to be a factor if someone wants to participate. Additional courses will be hosted June 24 and 25, as well as classes in July and August this summer. To register call the center at 870-508-2345. The Schliemann Center for Women’s Health is located at 606 Broadmoor Drive in Mountain Home across from Baxter Health.
