A Mountain Home man is facing multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated, after his truck crashed into a Baxter County residence. Forty-year-old David Booth was released from the Baxter County Detention Center after posting a bond of $2,125.
According to the incident report, two Baxter County deputies were dispatched to Jordan Road just before 2 Monday morning for a report of a vehicle striking a residence. While en route, the deputies were advised two individuals were on the property. The residents reportedly told dispatch a male appearing to be under the influence was knocking on his door.
Upon arrival, one of the deputies made contact with a male, identified as Booth, who admitted to being the driver and refusing to identify his passenger. Booth was detained for suspicion of DWI.
A third deputy arrived and noticed a truck stuck in the residence. He believed it to have been traveling at a high rate of speed due to the damage and the distance traveled. Damage to the residence was estimated to be around $20,000.
One of the first deputies to arrive on the scene told the third deputy Booth appeared to have pinpoint pupils and was speaking incoherently. After arriving to the detention center, Booth agreed to take standardized field sobriety tests. He reportedly passed, and his preliminary breath test read zero.
After going inside, Booth declined to take a chemical test to determine if narcotics were in his system. He also made the comment that his license was already suspended, so they couldn’t take one from him.
Booth’s charges include DWI (drugs, first offense), reckless driving, driving while license is suspended or revoked, no proof of liability insurance and refusal of blood alcohol content test.
