An Ozark County man is dead and his live-in girlfriend is facing charges in his death after he was thrown from a moving vehicle during an argument between the two. Mark Ault was taken to Cox Medical Center in Springfield for treatment but died Thursday afternoon from a massive head trauma. His girlfriend, Shannon Lori Collins, is facing two felony charges for the incident at this time, but amended charges are expected to be filed as early as Friday.

According to information from Ozark County Sheriff Cass Martin, the incident happened about 10 Wednesday morning at the residence the two share about six miles west of Gainesville. The sheriff says after an argument, Collins was attempting to leave and Ault was attempting to stop her and was standing on the running boards of her vehicle. A witness reported Collins accelerated and then slammed on the brakes which sent Ault flying over the hood of the vehicle where he apparently landed on his head, causing a massive head trauma.

Collins then fled the scene and was not located until about 13-14 hours later by law enforcement.

Collins at this time is facing felony charges of domestic assault in the second degree and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. She is being held in the Ozark County Jail without bond.

Sheriff Martin says they have had multiple calls over the years to the couple’s residence to deal with domestic issues.
