2 Arkansans killed after being thrown from motorcycle in Newton County

Two Bismarck residents were killed after being thrown from their motorcycle Friday afternoon in Newton County. Sixty-three-year-old Ronald Cooper died at the scene, and 52-year-old Angel Cooper was later pronounced dead at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.

According to the Arkansas State Police, Ronald Cooper was the driver of the motorcycle on Arkansas Highway 123 in Lurton, and Angel Cooper was his passenger. The motorcycle shifted to the opposite lane as they were attempting to pass a vehicle in front of them, but they met another oncoming vehicle. Ronald Cooper reportedly swerved to miss the vehicle, the motorcycle went to the side of the road, and both occupants were thrown from the bike.

The road was dry, and the weather was sunny at the time of the 1:24 p.m. accident.
