A man who has been accused of crimes in at least six Arkansas counties made an appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday and pled guilty to charges in a 2021 case.

Thirty-four-year-old Mac Ryan Chitwood, who is reported to be from Lonoke, was sentenced to seven years-probation.

His charges through the years have included felony theft, fleeing, escape, shooting at a police officer, theft of property, commercial burglary, theft by receiving, breaking or entering, terroristic threatening, harassment, endangering the welfare of a minor, criminal mischief and public intoxication.

The first case was opened on Chitwood in 2008 when he was in his late teens.

In the Baxter County case, Chitwood was facing five felony charges stemming from his alleged involvement in breaking into a vacation home along Diamond Bay Road in Elizabeth and stealing several items including a vehicle, a pistol and a shotgun.

Chitwood and a co-defendant, Dalton Michael Pflaumer of Elizabeth, who was 18-years-old at the time, also stole items from a boat at a nearby dock.

Pflaumer told investigators he had once lived on Diamond Bay Road and was familiar with the residence that was broken into and burglarized.

The second home was owned by a St. Louis couple.

In mid-July 2016, Chitwood was involved in a chase with Sharp County officers during which he allegedly fired shots at his pursuers.

The car he was in was reported to be the vehicle stolen from the vacation home in Elizabeth. The gun used by Chitwood matched the description of the weapon taken from the home.

Investigators reported Chitwood and Pflaumer had also allegedly stolen a van from the First Baptist Church in Horseshoe Bend.

Chitwood is reported to have admitted he and Pflaumer had taken the van. They drove it to the Hand Cove area where they got it stuck in the woods.

They then walked to the residence in Elizabeth where they took the guns and vehicle.

Prior to stealing the church van, the pair had attempted to take a van from a funeral home in Salem.

Chitwood and Pflaumer parted ways in Brockwell. Pflaumer said he took a shotgun they had stolen at the residence in Elizabeth, and Chitwood kept the stolen car and handgun.

When being interviewed by investigators about his activities with Chitwood, Pflaumer also admitted he had on his own stolen a truck in early July 2016 in the Midway area.

Pflaumer said he wanted to go to Kansas to visit a friend and started walking up Highway 5 North.

He said he got tired and decided it would be best to steal a vehicle and drive to Kansas.

Pflaumer said he saw the victim’s Ford pickup truck parked in the driveway and told investigators the keys were in it.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Jasper County picked him up in the stolen truck on the same day as the theft.

Pflaumer has also picked up charges in Pulaski, Baxter, Izard and Lincoln Counties. The case in Lincoln County was opened after Pflaumer was found to be hiding contraband in his prison cell. The prison unit was located in Lincoln County.

According to court records, many of Pflaumer’s crimes were committed while he was with Chitwood.

He has been charged with theft of property, breaking or entering, theft by receiving, criminal mischief, commercial burglary and possession of drugs.

Pflaumer was convicted of his charges in Baxter County in 2017 and sentenced to six years in prison.

He is currently an inmate in the Cummins Unit of the state prison system.
