Dallas County authorities said over $72,000 has been raised for the victims of the deadly Fordyce mass shooting.

The donations were raised through an account at Fordyce Bank and Trust and will be evenly distributed between the victims of the shooting through the Victims First organization through their partnership with the Arkansas Community Foundation.

This comes after a gunman shot and killed four people and injured several others June 21st at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce.

Dallas County Sheriff Mike Knoedl shared his appreciation for those who donated time or money in helping victims, their family, and Fordyce recover. “I want to personally thank each one who donated in this time of need,” Sheriff Knoedl said. “This money will go a long way to assist the 13 victims who were directly affected during this horrific tragedy.”

“From this point forward, I encourage any donations to go to the Arkansas Community Foundation. They are actively raising funds until September 30 for long-term needs, which will be dispersed to the survivors as determined by a local steering committee. I will assure you I have vetted these organizations we are working with thoroughly and they are here to help. The foundation has been raising funds for long-term recovery for decades, along with Victims First who has assisted victims in 50 mass shootings in numerous states for years.”
