Cardinals host Nationals to start 6-game home stand

The St. Louis Cardinals are set to begin their first home stand since the All-Star break on Friday. The Redbirds will start with a three-game series against the Washington Nationals.St. Louis is currently 53-49 on the season after losing the rubber match of their three-game series Wednesday at Pittsburgh. The Cardinals are in second place in the National League Central as they trail Milwaukee by six games, and they’re behind San Diego by a half game for the league’s last Wild Card spot.

Washington is in fourth place in the N.L. East as they trail Philadelphia by 17 1/2 games. The Nats are 47-56 after getting swept in a three-game series this week by the Padres.

Sonny Gray will be on the mound for St. Louis, and Washington will go with Mackenzie Gore. The first pitch at Busch Stadium is scheduled for 7:15. Friday’s game can be heard on KTLO-AM. The broadcast begins at 6:20 with Ameren Total Access.
