Hooten’s Arkansas Football releases 2024 issue

The 2024 edition of the Natural State’s most comprehensive football publication is on newsstands. Hooten’s Arkansas Football Magazine previews the upcoming season for high school teams (all 11-man and eight-man) and the college teams in the state. The biggest section of the magazine breaks down every 11-man high school football team and conference in Arkansas.Mountain Home is expected to return to the postseason for the fifth straight season, and this year, they’re expected to have home field advantage in the opening round. The coaches predicted the Bombers to finish fourth in the 6A-West, and Hooten’s has them 10th in the Class 6A rankings. In addition, offensive lineman Caleb Perdue and linebacker Dawson Dunlap are members of the Hootens.com Super Team in Class 6A. Greenwood is picked to win the league as they look to defend last year’s state championship.

Four area schools are competing in the 3A-2.
Yellville-Summit is expected to miss the playoffs for the third straight year as they transition to the leadership of new head coach Chaseton McCarthy. The Panthers were selected by the coaches to finish seventh in the conference.
The coaches picked Salem to repeat as conference champions. The Hootens.com rankings have the Greyhounds at No. 10 in all of Class 3A.
Melbourne is expected to join Salem in the postseason again this year. The Bearkatz are believed by the coaches to finish third in the 3A-2, and Hooten’s has them at No. 18 in the Class 3A rankings.
Mountain View is one of the newcomers of the league as they return to 11-man football after spending the last two seasons on the eight-man level. The Yellowjackets are expected to just miss the playoffs as the coaches picked them sixth in the league.

Izard County is going through two transitions this year as they will play their inaugural season of 11-man football after competing on the eight-man level for the program’s first two seasons. The Cougars are also going through a leadership change as Chase Brody will be their new head coach. Izard County is believed to miss the postseason as the coaches selected them to finish seventh in the 2A-2. Marked Tree is picked to win the conference title.

Harrison is predicted by the coaches to get back to the playoffs again this season. The Goblins are expected by the coaches to end up third in the 5A-West, and they’re also 18th in the Hootens.com Class 5A rankings.

Marshall is one of four schools in Arkansas whose eight-man teams will play in the unsanctioned division for Classes 4A and 3A. The coaches selected the Bobcats to finish third in the division. Another group of Bobcats from Corning were selected as the top unsanctioned team.
