From April through June 30, Arkansans spent $67.4 million on medical marijuana for a total of 18,895 pounds, bringing the overall amount for 2024 to $135.5 million and 36,135 pounds.
This included $22.8 million in April, $22.9 million in May and $21.7 million in June.
The state saw a decrease in sales from the same time in 2023 with $141 million spent on medical marijuana, a decrease of $5.5 million.
In those three months, state tax revenue from medical marijuana totaled $7.9 million, representing revenue from both the 6.5% state sales tax on the product along with the 4% privilege tax. More than $136 million have been generated since the industry launched.
A monthly breakdown of sales, provided by the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, shows Plant Family Therapeutics of Mountain Home having sold 147.85 pounds in April, and 130.01 pounds in May and 181.63 in June.
The Arkansas Department of Health reports more than 105,039 active patient cards.
Suite 443 in Hot Springs led dispensaries in sales with 1,818 pounds and Natural Relief Dispensary in Sherwood followed closely with 1,709 pounds sold.
Currently there are 37 dispensaries in operation across the state.
