Miller County Sheriff’s Office officials said a pilot was forced to make an emergency landing on Highway 67 on Tuesday. The plane was being ferried back to Texarkana Airport from an airshow in Wisconsin when it ran out of fuel. Wade Wolenbarger, of North Little Rock, had the runway at Texarkana within eyesight when his plane’s engine began to sputter. After making the emergency landing, the plane was towed to the airport.

Miller County deputies were on scene to ensure safety and manage traffic, while the Arkansas State Police and Miller County Office of Emergency Management provided crucial support. The emergency landing disrupted traffic briefly but was handled efficiently by the agencies on hand.

The emergency landing happened at about 4:35PM. The Federal Aviation Administration has been contacted to investigate the incident.
