A Mountain Home man has been arrested for holding a knife to his girlfriend’s throat because she dressed too nicely and would draw attention from others when they went out. Facing a felony charge for the incident is 33-year-old Ethan Hooper.

According to the probable cause affidavit from Mountain Home Police, the victim called 911 saying her boyfriend was highly intoxicated and holding a knife to her throat.

When officers arrived, the victim had locked herself in a bedroom and Hooper was trying to get in. He was taken into custody without incident. The affidavit noted the knife the caller mentioned was actually a machete due to its size and had caused a small cut on the victim’s neck.

The victim told officers she and Hooper were getting ready to go out for the evening, but when she got dressed up, he got jealous because she looked too good and would draw attention from others and lost his temper. She said he had drank two pints of 100-proof gin. At the Baxter County Detention Center, he was given a portable breath test which registered a .203.

Hooper is facing a felony count of aggravated assault on a family or household member. His bond is set at $5,000.
