CAMP JOSEPH T. ROBINSON, NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Arkansas Army National Guard will sign a memorandum of understanding at 10 a.m. Aug. 12 on the Black River Technical College campus in Pocahontas to fast track Guard members unique military training and experience into college credit hours toward a technical certificate or degree.

“This is going to be outstanding for our Guardsmen who have completed a trades type military occupational series school in the Army who also want to pursue that career in the private sector,” said Brig. Gen. Michael Henderson, Arkansas National Guard director of the joint staff. “This will help them get into the workforce faster and further contribute to the state’s economy. Additionally, it shows that military service doesn’t slow you down in your life’s goals. It can help launch you into life as an adult and set young people up for success long term.”

Additionally, the agreement allows an Army Guard recruiter space on the Pocahontas BRTC campus to not only engage with current BRTC students interested in military service, but also to service area high schools to explain military service and the many benefits that come from serving the state and nation in uniform.
