A family from the western United States has been on a journey across the country for over two years on horseback, and over the weekend, they’ve been staying in the Twin Lakes Area. Teenagers Levi and Lucas White, ages 16 and 15 respectively, are going through what they call the L&L Man Quest, along with parents Josh and Terra, making a stop in Mountain Home on Friday and staying at the Saddle Club Arena at the Baxter County Fairgrounds.

Levi White says the idea came after his father took a slightly similar trip in 2014.

The Whites, all born and raised in Nevada, began their journey in April 2022 in the northeastern California town of Susanville. They’re currently on their trip with seven horses and two mules.

The Whites are not following a planned route. Levi White says they’re going on the trip by the “seat of our pants.”

The White family is expecting to begin departing Mountain Home either Monday or Tuesday. While on their trip, they’ve met several different people, heard various stories about the places they’ve stopped and received directions for their upcoming routes. Levi White says they’ve had more people from Arkansas reach out to them on Facebook than any other state.
