A Baxter County Detention Center inmate is accused of approaching another inmate and striking him several times. Thirty-year-old Aaron Riviere of Cherokee Village is facing charges of third-degree battery and impairing the operations of a vital public facility.
According to an incident report, a jailer responded to a report of an ongoing fight and removed the victim from his pod. Another jailer reviewed footage and observed Riviere allegedly approaching and repeatedly striking the face of the victim, who was laying down. The victim got up from his bunk and was reportedly struck several several more times.
Riverie has been in the detention center since late March on an accusation of assaulting two Mountain Home residents and stealing a vehicle from one of them. He is facing a felony charge of theft of property along with two misdemeanor charges of second-degree assault and a single charge of driving while his driver’s license is suspended.
Riviere’s bond has been increased to $11,000, and he has a hold for other agencies.
