According to the probable cause affidavit, deputies were called to a residence when a woman had picked up a friend from jail and was taking her to a rehab facility but was being followed by the friend’s ex-boyfriend. So she went to her house instead so the ex-boyfriend would not know where the facility would be.

Deputies arrived and took the ex-boyfriend into custody on outstanding warrants, but the driver of the vehicle, Harmon, argued with deputies saying he was going to follow the two to the rehab facility and refused to leave, despite repeated warnings from law enforcement that he would be arrested if he didn’t.

Finally, deputies advised Harmon he was under arrest, and they tried to reach into the vehicle to remove him, but Harmon closed the door and took off.

The two deputies pursued Harmon on Arkansas Highway 14 towards Independence County with speeds reaching 95 miles-per-hour. The pursuit ended at the Independence County line where deputies there were able to make a stop on the vehicle and take Harmon into custody after a brief struggle.

Harmon is facing a felony count of fleeing and misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and obstructing governmental operations. He is being held in the Stone County Jail with bond set at $15,000.
